Candidates eligible for appointment as Intermediate Trained Assistant Teachers in Primary Schools (Classes 1 to 5) must meet the following criteria:
- Must have passed the +2 or higher secondary examination or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 50% marks, along with a two-year diploma in elementary education (irrespective of the name given to it) or
- Must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the higher secondary examination or its equivalent, along with a two-year diploma in elementary education (irrespective of the name given to it), which was obtained within the timeframe of 2007-2009 session as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Regulations, 2002, or
- Must have passed the +2 or higher secondary examination or its equivalent, along with a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), or
- Must have passed the +2 or higher secondary examination or its equivalent, along with a two-year diploma in education (special education) and a two-year diploma in elementary education (irrespective of the name given to it), or
